In the lush region of Moravia, San José, Costa Rica, Finca Higuerones is a standout single-origin coffee farm, owned by Coopelibertad since the mid-1990s.
With a commitment to environmental sustainability, Finca Higuerones is certified by Costa Rica’s Nama Café project, which focuses on reducing greenhouse gases and minimising the environmental impact of coffee production.
At 1250 meters, Finca Higuerones blends traditional farming with ecological responsibility, using minimal agrochemicals and diverse shade planting to support local wildlife.
The coffee undergoes a washed process starting with a detailed inspection and pulping at the farm's Micro Beneficio. After 24 hours of rest, the beans are washed and carefully dried, using methods like greenhouse drying, patios, or African beds. Once dried, the beans are stored in Grain Pro bags, aging for 3-4 months to develop their flavors before export.
With an SCA Cupping Score of 88, this Obatá varietal coffee boasts a vibrant and complex flavor profile.
Tasting Notes: Fruity, enzymatic fragrance with a chocolate base, complemented by spicy notes, ripe fruits, red berries, strawberry, and caramel. This coffee is sweet, complex, and fruity, with a creamy body and medium acidity.
