Intense coffee, tastes like cooked plum with tangy acidity
Worka is an exceptional coffee from the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia, cultivated by Mr. Bekele Gemeda in Worka village, just 13 km from Gedeb town. As a dedicated full-time farmer, Mr. Bekele tends to 9.5 hectares of coffee plantations with the help of his children. His farm is not only his livelihood but also a source of support for his 11 children and extended family.
Situated at elevations between 1,780 and 2,100 meters, the farm benefits from Yirgacheffe’s ideal high-altitude climate, which enhances the coffee’s bright acidity and layered complexity. Using the washed processing method, Mr. Bekele ensures that only the finest beans are meticulously sorted, pulped, and fermented before being dried on raised beds. This method refines the coffee’s clarity and crispness, bringing out its full flavor potential.
Unlike most Ethiopian coffees, which are often blended at washing stations, Mr. Bekele’s lot has been kept separate, a testament to the outstanding quality of his harvest. His dedication to meticulous farming and careful processing is reflected in every cup.
