Blueberry, pineapple, mango
Ethiopia’s Guji region, Uraga 5D offers a uniquely exotic and vibrant coffee experience. Guji is known for its flavorful coffees, began transitioning from gold mining to coffee cultivation in 2005. This shift brought the region into the global coffee spotlight, where it quickly became recognized for its vibrant and juicy flavor profiles.
Coffee plants in Guji are relatively young, and the Uraga station specifically has become known for its consistently high-quality coffees, often ranking among the TOP 40 in the Ethiopian Cup of Excellence.
With an impressive SCA score of 90, this GR.1 coffee is produced through an anaerobic natural process using local landrace varietals, grown at an altitude of 2,050 meters.
The people of Guji, particularly the Gedeo, are integral to the region’s coffee heritage. Known for their vibrant culture and skilled agricultural practices, the Gedeo are predominantly vegan and deeply rooted in their Protestant faith. Each year, they celebrate the end of the coffee harvest and the Gedeo New Year with the Darraro festival, gathering in traditional blue garments to honor their culture and achievements.
Uraga 5D embodies the dedication, history, and spirit of this remarkable community, bringing an authentic taste of Ethiopia to your cup.
Tasting Notes: An exotic blend of ripe blueberry, pineapple, and juicy mango creates a vibrant and refreshing profile. Delicate floral hints add depth, capturing the lively essence of Ethiopian coffee in a smooth, well-rounded cup.
