Kuria in Migori County, western Kenya, Kuria Blossom is an exceptional anaerobic natural coffee that reflects the innovation and resilience of smallholder farmers in one of the country’s emerging specialty regions. Grown at 1,400–1,600 meters by dedicated producers working with Misadhi Coffee, this lot showcases Kenya’s evolving processing techniques and community-focused quality.
The Origin & Process:
Collected from farmers in the Kuria ward, this coffee is part of a traceable initiative by Misadhi, which supports over 2,000 farmers across western Kenya with access to better seedlings, agronomic training, and individualized post-harvest processing. Each ward’s coffee is handled separately to highlight its unique profile and ensure transparency.
After selective handpicking, cherries are floated and sorted, then transferred into sealed fermentation barrels for an oxygen-free, yeast-enhanced fermentation. Using Larger Yeast strains, the coffee ferments for four days, developing a rich and layered profile. The cherries are then dried slowly on raised beds, hulled, and vacuum-packed to preserve freshness and complexity.
Tasting Notes:
A clean and rounded cup bursting with zesty lime and tropical pineapple, balanced by smooth notes of honey and nougat. Kuria Blossom is a vivid and modern expression of Kenyan coffee, offering both clarity and sweetness, ideal for those who appreciate bright, experimental, and fruit-driven profiles.
