Chamomile, Black tea, Raspberry, Orange
Gitoki coffee embodies the evolution of Rwandan coffee production and the dedication of smallholder farmers. Once known for banana cultivation, the region has transformed into a thriving coffee-producing area, with banana plants now providing natural shade for coffee trees.
Grown at 1,800-1,900 meters above sea level, this Red Bourbon variety is cultivated by 515 smallholder farmers who deliver their harvest to the Gitoki washing station, the newest addition to Baho Coffee’s operations. With government support and farmer training initiatives, the station ensures exceptional quality by selectively handpicking and meticulously sorting each cherry.
The fully washed process enhances the coffee’s vibrant and clean cup profile. After pulping and fermentation in water-filled tanks, the coffee undergoes careful grading and drying over 21 days to preserve its unique characteristics.
Tasting Notes:
A delicate and complex cup with chamomile, black tea, raspberry, and orange notes. Bright acidity and smooth sweetness create a balanced and elegant experience, making it an excellent choice for both filter and espresso brewing.
