Honourable Mention in the Global Coffee Awards (Single Origin category), this exceptional coffee comes from the renowned Yirgacheffe Aricha, one of Ethiopia’s most celebrated growing areas, famous for its aromatic intensity and flavour complexity.
Produced by smallholder farmers in the Aricha–Konga area, this single-origin coffee is grown at 2100 metres above sea level and made up of traditional Ethiopian Heirloom varieties. The high altitude and cool climate contribute to slow cherry maturation, enhancing sweetness and depth in the cup.
This lot is processed using a Natural Anaerobic method, with whole cherries fermented in sealed plastic barrels for nine days, followed by slow drying on raised beds for 13 to 18 days. This controlled fermentation amplifies the coffee’s exotic character while preserving balance and structure.
With an SCA cupping score of 89.25, Yirgacheffe Aricha delivers a rich, full-bodied cup with a fruity, enzymatic fragrance, a chocolate foundation, and layered notes of mango, red fruits, spice, and biscuit. The profile evolves beautifully in the cup, offering medium acidity, high sweetness, and remarkable complexity.
