Kenya Kia Mbuu Natural is a distinctive specialty coffee grown at 2000 metres above sea level at Tinganga Estate, located in Kiambu County. This high-altitude lot is made up of the classic Kenyan variety SL34 and processed using the natural (dry) method, resulting in a cup that is expressive, fruit-forward, and warm in character.
The estate is Rainforest Alliance certified and managed by Sasini, a producer committed to ethical labour practices and community development. Sasini provides workers with housing, access to education, union support, and wages above the legal minimum. In collaboration with Olam Specialty and over 30 partners, they have also supported local infrastructure projects, including the construction of a computer lab at the nearby primary school.
The name Kia Mbuu, derived from a Gikuyu expression meaning “place of drizzle,” reflects the coffee’s comforting and enveloping profile. In the cup, this natural Kenyan coffee offers vibrant notes of strawberry and black grape, balanced by a gentle sweetness and a smooth, nutty finish reminiscent of walnut.
Flavour Profile:
This coffee delivers ripe strawberry and black grape flavours, rounded out by a warm walnut note and a soft, satisfying sweetness.
