Murang'a Kenya Washed is a limited-quantity specialty coffee grown by smallholder farmers in the central highlands of Kenya. Sourced from Kariani Coffee Factory in Murang'a, this coffee benefits from rich red volcanic soils, cool mountain temperatures and a humid climate, creating ideal conditions for producing high-quality Arabica coffee.
Grown at approximately 1,500 metres above sea level, this lot combines the Ruiru 11, SL28 and SL34 varieties. The coffee is produced by more than 600 smallholder farmers who deliver their carefully selected cherries to Kariani Coffee Factory, part of the Thanga-ini Farmers' Cooperative Society. Established in 1968, the factory has a long tradition of coffee processing, combining careful cherry selection with traditional washed processing and slow drying on raised African beds.
The washed processing method highlights the coffee's vibrant fruit character and delicate floral notes. In the cup, expect juicy tropical fruit, elegant hibiscus florals, creamy white chocolate and smooth honey sweetness. Its expressive and balanced profile makes it especially enjoyable as filter coffee, offering a bright, layered cup with a naturally sweet finish.
Tasting Notes:
