Rwanda - Rugali Kivu

Floral and Refined – Rwanda Coffee

Rwanda Rugali Kivu Natural Anaerobic is a vibrant specialty coffee produced at the Rugali Washing Station, located in Nyamasheke, in Rwanda’s Western Province. Founded in 2016 and situated at altitudes between 1550 and 1800 metres above sea level, Rugali has rapidly become one of the most important washing stations in the region.

The station works with approximately 1,150 smallholder farmers and is led by managing director Balthazar Ndikubwimana. Together, they produce around 500 tonnes of coffee cherries annually, focusing on quality-driven processing and careful fermentation practices that highlight Rwanda’s distinctive cup profile.

This lot is processed using a natural anaerobic method, intensifying fruit expression while maintaining clarity and elegance. In the cup, Rugali Kivu delivers expressive notes of ripe strawberry and elderflower syrup, supported by refined acidity, sugarcane sweetness, and subtle hints of nutmeg. The profile is aromatic, clean, and well-structured, with a polished and lingering finish.
