Hacienda Santa Gertrudis is nestled in the lush highlands of Malacatos, Loja, a region in southern Ecuador known for its pristine natural conditions. Sitting at altitudes between 1,620 and 1,720 meters, this historic estate has embraced innovation under the guidance of producer José Eguiguren, combining generations of farming tradition with a focus on quality and sustainability.
This Geisha varietal, processed using the honey method, reflects the estate’s commitment to excellence. Carefully handpicked cherries are subjected to controlled fermentation and slow drying on raised African beds, techniques that preserve delicate aromatics and highlight the coffee’s elegant complexity. Grown in rich organic soils and cooled by mountain breezes, this Geisha reveals its full expression when brewed as a filter.
Tasting Notes:
An exquisitely floral and juicy cup with notes of violet and jasmine tea, layered with tropical sweetness reminiscent of physalis, pineapple, and açaí. Its silky body and vibrant acidity culminate in a lingering, refined finish—showcasing the potential of Ecuadorian terroir through a world-class micro-lot.
