Fruity, mango, red fruits, spicy, biscuit notes
Aricha is an exceptional single-origin coffee from Ethiopia’s legendary Yirgacheffe region, produced by smallholder farmers in the highland village of Konga. Grown at elevations reaching 2,100 meters above sea level, this heirloom-varietal coffee thrives in Yirgacheffe’s rich soils and unique microclimate—factors that contribute to its remarkable clarity, intensity, and balance.
The cherries are organically cultivated under the shade of false banana plants and selectively handpicked at peak ripeness. The coffee undergoes a 9-day anaerobic fermentation in plastic barrels, a method that enhances its fruity depth and exotic aromatics. It is then carefully dried for 13 to 18 days on raised beds, despite challenges caused by unusually heavy rainfall. Once dried, the lot is stored locally and moved to Addis Ababa for export when fully stabilized.
The Aricha station manages 200 drying beds and employs up to 100 workers during the harvest season (November to January), creating valuable economic opportunities for the community. Now in its third year of operation and second in collaboration with Ephtah, the station continues to improve quality through innovation and care.
Scoring 89.25 on the SCA scale, this coffee offers a lush and expressive profile with chocolate base notes, tropical fruit (mango), red berries, spices, and buttery biscuit undertones—an outstanding showcase of Yirgacheffe’s world-renowned coffee heritage.
