Sweet Tart Kenyan Coffee - Kainamui AA Kirinyaga Microlot

In the heart of Central Kenya, the Kirinyaga region is renowned for its lush volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, and natural beauty.

The Kainamui washing station, established in 1963, serves approximately 1,800 smallholder farmers who are members of the New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society, with around 40% of members being women. These farmers grow coffee on small plots, often alongside macadamia, eucalyptus, tea, and bananas.

Managed by Patrick Njogu and his dedicated team, Kainamui ensures quality by overseeing every step of the process, from cherry weighing and green grading to quality control and farmer support. The cooperative society also provides valuable pre-financing for school fees, production costs, and emergencies, and regularly hosts training sessions for agricultural advancement.

This AA fully washed coffee is a microlot blend of Batian, SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11 varietals, grown at altitudes up to 1,800 meters. The result is a vibrant coffee that highlights the unique flavors of Kirinyaga.

Tasting Notes: Tartaric acidity, a layered sweetness, and notes of black tea, blackberries, and cherry cola, making it an ideal choice for filter brewing.
