Ethiopia - Yirgacheffee - Kurume

Ethiopia Specialty Coffee – Floral, Fruity & Citrus Notes

From the renowned Yirgacheffe region in southern Ethiopia, Kurume is an heirloom varietal grown at elevations of 1,900–2,100 meters and processed at the Chelbesa washing station. This unique coffee is celebrated for both its resilience and its exceptional cup profile.

Kurume trees thrive under harsh climatic conditions, showing strong resistance to drought and disease. This adaptability not only safeguards farmer livelihoods but also ensures the preservation of Ethiopia’s coffee heritage in the face of climate change. With dense foliage and small cherries, Kurume yields complex, high-quality flavors that stand out on the world stage.

Shade-grown among semi-forest vegetation, including false banana trees, this coffee embodies the ecological richness of Gedeb’s Chelbesa area — one of the most highly regarded coffee terroirs in Yirgacheffe.

SCA Cupping Score: 86.5

Tasting Profile: Elegant jasmine florals with vanilla sweetness, bright lemon citrus, and juicy peach. Clean, complex, and vibrant with a smooth body.
